Description

Founded in 1956 by a group of 14 dedicated doctors, Manila Doctors Hospital is a premier private tertiary medical center that serves both local and international patients. It provides comprehensive, holistic care that consistently exceeds industry standards and proactively anticipates and responds to the evolving needs of patients, their families, and the surrounding communities. Located along United Nations Avenue in the historic business and touristic district of Metro Manila, MDH sits just a stone’s throw from Chinatown and offers convenient entry and exit points on both United Nations Avenue and Teodoro M. Kalaw Avenue. Its Teodoro M. Kalaw façade faces the Department of Tourism and the eastern side of the iconic Rizal Park, placing the hospital at a strategically prominent and accessible urban site.

Over the decades, MDH has continually expanded and refined its clinical, medical, and support departments, developing into one of the top five hospitals in Metro Manila. Recognized by prominent international accreditors for delivering high-quality and safe patient care, MDH achieved a notable milestone as the first hospital to receive ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2005. The institution maintained its quality management focus and was subsequently recertified under ISO 9001:2008 beginning in 2011.

Committed to providing excellent and safe patient care, the hospital continuously adheres to the rigorous standards of Accreditation Canada International (ACI). Manila Doctors earned Gold accreditation across three successive ACI evaluation cycles in August 2011, 2014, and again in 2017, reflecting its sustained dedication to best practices and continuous quality improvement. The hospital also gained international recognition from the International Hospital Federation’s World Hospital Congress for two consecutive years, 2016 and 2017, and participated as a member of the Federation during the 41st World Hospital Congress.

In 2017, Manila Doctors Hospital submitted an entry titled “Climate Impact Mitigation Actions: An Eleven Year Journey of Manila Doctors Hospital in Institutionalizing Climate Change Adaptation,” which competed among 231 submissions from 28 countries that included ministries of health, health authorities, and public research hospitals. This recognition highlights the hospital’s long-term commitment to environmental sustainability and institutional resilience.

Manila Doctors Hospital is also an active, reporting member in good standing of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), further demonstrating its commitment to ethical practices, corporate responsibility, and alignment with globally recognized principles for human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption measures.
